An introduction to

Structured Light Technology

Structured Light 3D scanners project a pattern onto an object, then calculate the shape of the object based on how the pattern is cast across its surface. Structured light scanning technology consists of one or more projectors, and a series of cameras to analyze the projected pattern.

Full Color Scanning – Structured Light scanning captures not only the geometry of an object, but also the colors of it, for the most detail intensive applications. For shiny or reflective surfaces, there is a scanning spray available that can be applied to mitigate any possible scanning issues.

Target-Free Scanning – Most Structured Light scanners require no target markings on objects for scanning, resulting in easier setup.
