Our Mission
Learn concepts of dimensional inspection using optical comparators and measurement microscopes.
Have you ever wondered how non-contact optical tools make accurate dimensional measurements?
Learn the principles of optical measurement and get hands-on experience with measuring scopes and optical comparators.
This introductory class covers optical measurement principles, methods, and techniques.
The student will become familiar with Measure-X software and its use on optical measurement systems.
Equipment used in class:
Starlite, SparkMVP, SmartScope E7, Measure-X
Prerequisites:
None. It is beneficial for the student to be familiar with mechanical inspection.
- including a free trial copy of QC-Calc
Explore QC-Calc data collection and reporting software.
This hands-on activity provides training to get you started using QC-Calc including setup and reporting.
After the class, you will be ready to connect your measurement tools for automated data collection.
Equipment used in class:
QC-Calc
Prerequisites:
Students need to bring their laptops and install QC-Calc before arriving. Technical support for installation will be provided upon request. Each student will leave with the QC-Calc license remaining active for an evaluation period after the class.
- Explore Geomagic for Solidworks (G4SW) plugin
This hands-on activity will go through 2-3 short G4SW workflows with some sample files including one pure mechanical part, one organic part requiring mesh editing, and one more hybrid example as time allows.
Equipment used in class:
Solidworks and Geomagic-for-Solidworks (G4SW)
Prerequisites:
Students need to bring their laptops with an active license of Solidworks. G4SW will need to be installed before arriving. The evaluation license and installation assistance will be provided before the event so that each student will arrive prepared to participate. Each student will leave with the G4SW license remaining active for an evaluation period after the class.
It is beneficial for the student to be familiar with SolidWorks.
Get hands-on with the Master3DGage.
Dimensional inspection using the most accurate articulating arm available to the user for portable contact measurement.
Discover the basic principles of measurement, alignment, and reporting with hands-on experience collecting both contact and noncontact data. This basic class will explore measurement principles and best practices using the device as well as checking the health of the device. The student will become familiar with Verisurf software and its many capabilities and a variety of applications.
Prerequisites:
Students need to bring their laptops and install Verisurf Learning Edition before arriving. Technical support for installation will be provided upon request. Each student will leave with the Verisurf Learning Edition license remaining active for an evaluation period after the class. https://codes.verisurf.com/learning-edition-registration/
This introductory class will focus on preparing 3D CAD models for FFF printing.
Take a look into 3D print slicing using Cura, UltiMaker’s advanced slicing software.
Learn how to prepare your 3D CAD for print including considerations for part orientation and support strategies. Experience how your choices for print preparation impact overall part strength, surface quality, and other characteristics. The student will gain the fundamental skills for navigating the Cura interface including how to make the most of its tools and settings.
Equipment used in class:
UltiMaker Cura 5.4
Prerequisites
Students need to bring their laptops and install Cura before arriving. Technical support for installation will be provided upon request. Each student will leave with an active Cura license.
